Many different factors can lead to stress in any person’s life, although some people have learned to manage their levels of stress better than others. There is no specific key to learning how to manage your stress, but it all relies on things that occur in your life that may cause you stress.
High amounts of stress can lead to severe medical conditions as well as affect your daily routine and the ability to remember and learn throughout the day. The hormones which the brain releases in stressful situations are only meant to be used in short-term situations, and overuse of these hormones can be detrimental to the health of your brain, even end up killing brain cells.
Owning your own business is full of up and downhill battles, and the best way to handle every situation is to remember that you need to remain calm and not let the situation get the best of you. The first days of your business are bound to be stressful but the way you manage yourself will reflect positively on you as the business-owner and upon any staff that you may have.
Your body language is a reflection on your ability to handle stress and problems you may encounter, and whether you are a good leader in this type of scenario is important to determine from the origins of your business. Your body can additionally suffer from undue amounts of stress, and finding a good method in which to handle stressful situations is an important step toward business ownership.

When your body recognizes a stressful situation, hormones are released into your adrenal glands to counteract the cortisol which is on its way to the brain; additional hormones race to the brain to control the few amounts of cortisol which may have made it into the hippocampus. Homeostasis is thus reconciled through this process, and attempts to bring your body back to equilibrium; if your stimulating or tranquilizing force outweighs the other, you will experience a state of imbalance, which is when stress comes into play.
With all the work your body goes through to prevent you from getting to a stressful stage, it additionally goes into red-alert in order to prevent any further brain abnormalities from occurring. Your sympathetic nervous system and parasympathetic nervous system also remain in a tug of war with each other in order to get your body back down to equilibrium so that the hippocampus remains free of any outside substances which stress may cause due to the imbalance. The body reacts to a stressful encounter by preparing itself for a life-threatening situation and thus shutting down all methods of growth so that you will have more adrenaline and more energy to counteract anything which may be causing you anxiety.
With your body going through all this in order to counteract stress, it becomes imperative that you recognize situations that may cause you undue stress. While it has been recognized that appropriate responses to stress is normal in everyday life, an overreaction or increased daily reactions to stress may cause your body to work double-time and thus risk more severe complications such as heart attacks or ulcers.
Running your own business is an exciting time in any person’s life: you get to experience freedom you never thought you would gain, as well as independence to make decisions you want to make. However, be aware of the fact that every problem with your company will fall to you and it is up to you to decide whether you and your body can handle stress well.
Stress can be managed easily by calming your body down before it gets to a state of imbalance; keep your body in a state of relaxation when presented with a stressful situation and your body will thank you for it in the coming years.
