You always get what you believe. Period. You may talk a good talk and even walk a good walk, but unless you believe you’ll get exactly what you want, it ain’t gonna happen.
We’re living in an I’ll-believe-it-when-I-see-it society, waiting for evidence to support our beliefs. If we can’t see it with our own eyes on the six o’clock news, we are less likely to believe it. This is the opposite of how manifestation really works. First you believe it, and then you see it. A sustained belief creates a tangible or visible result.
For example, let’s say you set a goal of building a company worth $5 million in five years. You write down your goal, you tell your friends and family, and you begin working toward that goal. But deep down, you really feel your goal is out of reach. You’ve got a nagging feeling that you overshot, that you’re working towards an unattainable goal.
So what will happen? Easy. Five years from now you’ll end up with a company that is NOT worth $5 million, if you still have a company, and you’ll wonder what you could have done differently to achieve your desired outcome.
If you believe you will actually have something less than what you’re aiming for, then that is exactly what you will get. You achieve what you believe, and even the smallest shadow of a doubt can derail your plans.
Little Earthquakes
In one of my past blogs (Wanting is for Weaklings) I discussed the dangers of wanting, and how to cultivate an unwavering belief in your desired outcome by eliminating all other possibilities, speaking about your goal with absolute authority, and acting “as if” you have already achieved it. These steps work, but you also need to closely examine your overall belief system and how it undermines and supports your endeavors.
The beliefs you hold about yourself determine your destiny. You’ve got a mix of positive and negative beliefs, and the negative beliefs are like little earthquakes that come out of nowhere and topple your plans. Underneath the belief that you probably won’t have a company worth $5 million in five years is a belief about your own limitations.
And believing you have to see it, taste it, touch it, or hear it in order for something to be considered real is just one of the limiting beliefs that hold you back. You’ve got a truckload of false beliefs that leave you feeling crappy and frustrated. Everyone has them. Until they don’t.
Wake Up!
Most people aren’t aware of their beliefs, or how they came to be, let alone how those beliefs are creating reality every moment. As a kid, your experiences shaped your internal belief system, and unless your folks were vigilant about helping you develop positive core beliefs, you’ve probably got a whole heap of trouble rumbling underneath that can-do attitude.
But it’s not just the messages from your past that are holding you back. It’s how you take in information today. Too many people count on outside sources to fill in all the blanks for them. They let their posse feed them a line of BS about what’s what, or look to the media or “experts” to tell them what to believe about the world, and themselves.
Get to Work!
You’re a Toilet Paper Entrepreneur, so I know you’re not afraid of a little hard work. Changing your core beliefs is going to be tough. You might dig up some ugly stuff that makes you want to throw in the towel. You may think you’ve got it all figured out and then discover yet another limiting belief underneath. It might suck so bad that you want to bang your head into a wall just to feel better.
Do it anyway. If you’re holding on to limiting beliefs, they’re going to come up and bite you in the ass. A strong core belief system that supports your aspirations is your most valuable asset.
Believe it or not, get it or not. Believe it or not, be it or not. Believe it or not, see it or not.
