PICTURES: Mike's Montana Cattle Drive

Published by Mike Michalowicz (Google+)

This was the first day of the cattle drive. About 20 minutes after this picture of me (Mike Michalowicz) was taken some of the cattle needed to be herded up to the trail, but everyone on the drive was eating lunch.  So me and a wrangler did the herding for about 100 cattle and got them going again. I skipped lunch... and it was well worth it.

The rain started to come down (and even turned to snow) during the drive.  If you look to the far right of the picture, you can see one of our "crew" chasing down a run away cow.

That's me, Mike Michalowicz, and my sister, Li Hayes.  We went on the trip for some brother-sister bonding.  Li grew up with horses, and even had her own horse for years.  Needless to say, she was  a master wrangler.

I found no better way to dry my wet boots than to stick them "in" the fire, with my feet in 'em.

This was the entire crew (both wranglers and guests) that went on the 40 mile plus cattle drive.  And yes, I am in the photo, standing behind and to the left of the gent in the red shirt.

    Aw, so sweet you and your sister went on a bonding-trip. Speak volumes about your family values.

    Did you say “giddy-up horsey” at least once? LOL! ;D

    Thank you for sharing your wonderful adventure. I want to go to Montana now!

  • http://www.ecudoctors.com Jorge Morales

    Wow man…looks like you had a sweet time.

    I grew up in a ranch slash farm in Puerto Rico and I can say that I would love to do a getaway like the one you just did.

    There is nothing better than being outdoors and sharing it with someone you love. It really gives you time to reflect on your life and dreams. For my 30th we did a dude ranch in Tucson AZ. Are you and your sister still talking?

  • Naresh Vij

    Hi Mike,

    Greetings!

    I am sure you must be energetic, enthusiastic, happy and raring to go again. This is what holidays does to us. Lesson for entrepreneurs… get away from daily routine once in a quarter for short trip and one n a year for long trip.

    You will be amazed at how your entrepreneur ship sails smoothly without you. Gives you opportunity to get away from set business to newer opportunities…

    happy Holidays to fellow entrepreneurs.

    Best Regards

    Hey Mike,

    Looks like the perfect bucket list adventure…ride em Cowboy!
    I’m sure you made Billy Crystal jealous.

  • Tom Pagano

    Mike: You’ve now officially earned the nickname “Dude” Michalowicz. Sounds like one of those fantastic, once-in-a-lifetime experiences with a sister that you’ll hope to repeat! How fun.

  • http://www.one-simus.com Kim B

    Hey Mike,

    Nice photos, kinda reminds me of that movie with Billy Crystal. Course at the end Billy brings home a little cow :) Looks like all enjoyed themselves! Would love to do a trip with ya, course mine would be somewhat caribbeanesque!!

    Best,

    Your fellow TPE,
    Kim

    • http://www.ToiletPaperEntrepreneur.com Mike Michalowicz

      @Kim – I like your idea of doing a “Caribbeanesque” version.
      @Tom – I am now a Dude!!! Love it!!!!
      @Michelle – I think I did make Billy shed a tear.
      @Naresh – Yes there is a major lesson – we must slow down to speed up.
      @Carrie – Amen to the outdoors.
      @Jorge – Holy crap… you are into outdoor, traditional survival. Do you know Hedgehog Leatherworks? They make sheaths for traditional survival skills (bushcraft stuff). I can hook you up with Paul Scheiter the owner.
      @Ros – with my horse… I said Giddy up about 10,000 times… but he never giddied up!
      @Beth – knee pain!
      @Amanda – Life can be great, just need to grab the opportunities.

    Hello cowpoke. I am sending a bunch of cowgirls to a dude ranch next June out in Colorado. I am trying to decide whether to go along or not. I like everything except the HORSES–yes I am afraid of them. Has to do with an experience on one with first hubby and oncoming traffic. Probably won’t run into that on a ranch so much. (really hoping the first hub wont be there) Maybe I will now that you have blazed the trail so to speak.

    No Linda, NO! Say it ain’t so, not a wonderful TFM event–not on horseback! I’m a chicken around horses. Are you on Facebook yet girl, then we could talk everyday!

    Sandy

    • http://www.ToiletPaperEntrepreneur.com Mike Michalowicz

      @Sandy – Time for you to buck up… I think we MUST do a TFM cattle drive trip. And YES you should go with them.
      @Sandra – Good eye. I wore the Australian style cowboy hat, all the other folks went with the American style white hat. You know me, gotta always be different.
      @Linda – Seriously??? I will make it happen.
      @Krista – Thanks…. you turn to go.
      @Stacey – An African safari sounds amazing. Do it and SEND PICs.
      @Bev – Thanks.
      @Teresa – The jacket is called an “oilskin duster” – literally water proof. Not a drop got on me. You can get it here for about $100 –> http://www.sheplers.com/mens/dusters/080409.html

  • Tommy

    The big question is “did you have enough toilet paper for the trip?”.

  • http://www.Cheryl-Hill.com Cheryl Hill

    Mike I have a questions…did you adopt a cow and name it Norman? LOL

  • http://www.wellnesspossibilities.com Kathy

    Sounds like fun. You have inspired me to add these kinds of activities to Wellness Possibilities.

    My latest activity is the Flying Trapeze. I just took my first class and learned my first trick: http://www.kathysmylymiller.com/2010/06/03/yes-it-is-me/

    • http://www.ToiletPaperEntrepreneur.com Mike Michalowicz

      @Kathy – That is great! I think I am adding that to my bucket list.
      @Cheryl – Nope, didn’t name a cow Norman… but I did name my horse Thunder Snail (he was loud, but slow).
      @Tommy – TP? No comment.
      @Jocelyn – Thanks. Backside not so bad, surprisingly. Knees in PAIN!
      @Jeanne – You MUST, MUST, MUST do it. It was amazing. Do a Google search on Montana High Cattle Drive. That is the one I did. Life changing!!!
      @Joyce – City Slicker all the way.
      @A’isha – Totally bonded with my sis. It was great
      @Sheila – Yes, I am a real life Billy Crystal.
