1. Stand By Your Brand
When I first began my inventor journey I learned that it is important to give your product a catchy name then put that name/logo on everything. Get the URL and trademark that too. Then if you end up selling or licensing the patent for your product, they will also want the trademarked name. Double the opportunity. Make sure your product is well made and will deliver the benefits you promise too. Your customers will be your best advertising and viral marketing in these days on the internet-GOLD!

2. What do you wish for?
With my love of nature, my love of photography and the inspiration to add phrases to my work. I was inspired to create "Wallet Wishes".
While walking my dog the entire concept from beginning to end came to me. I was inspired to create a coin to go with the cards that I created. On the front - A shooting star coming towards you. With the words "My Wish For You..." On the back a Shamrock and Horseshoe. I wanted a coin that made whoever was holding it feel great. Wallet Wishes was born!

3. Make it FUN-ctional!
As women, we like products that are functional, but we LOVE products that are fun, funky, unique and make all the other girls jealous! Secretly,we want that product that will make other women go "where did you get that!? I need one of those!" Make sure your product has that FUN part that puts it above any competition. So pay attention to the design, the look, the colors, the style, the smell of your product and think extraordinary not ordinary!

4. Hints from Hard Experience
When setting up your business plan, & costing your products, be sure to include the cost for paying yourself or a person equal to you in experience. If you do not, you will end up working in the same position for the rest of your life because your products will not support your hiring someone to take your place. You will never be able to go on to other endeavors. Always pay yourself first.

5. Produce What You Love
Entrepreneurs who create products that they love, use, wear and share with everyone will be successful. Produce a product you believe in and so will your customers.

6. Find Your Passion
Whatever you are passionate about, take it and do something with it. I am passionate about my kids, my family, my friends. When I came up with a way to have a piece of them with me all the time, I thought everybody must feel this way. And now not only did I create a jewelery piece but a whole line that takes your passion and shares a piece with everybody. If you are passionate about something, other people will be passionate about it too.

7. Multi-Functional Madness
Remember those Transformer toys when you are designing your invention.
Develop the product to have multiple uses for different stages of life & development (baby-kids development), a product that can provide years of use.
Take baby monitors for example - design them to be used as kids walkie-talkies for when the baby gets older instead of collecting dust on the shelf.
That's my tip...Multi-Functionality!

8. It's As Simple As That!
Most Mompreneuers find that there is something they use, need or want in everyday life & decide to 'invent' that must-have based on that 'need'. Make it unique but practical and for everyday use. It's as simple as that!

9. What Women Want...
While the topic of bouncing breasts might seem funny to some, exercise induced breast pain is no laughing matter. When we set out to develop a new line of sports bras, we talked to our future customers. We asked hundreds of women what they wanted, what kinds of activities they enjoyed, what features were most important to them. We listened: our amazing team of designers and engineers incorporated these requests into our product line.
My tip: If you want to know what a woman wants, ask her!

10. Signs Of An Entrepreneur
The word "signs" can have several different meanings in my case our products are a sure "sign" of an award winning DVD series that teach "sign language" to parents, teachers and young children! The best way for a female inventor to develop a product for consumers is to pay attention to the "signs" of what people want. Parents want the best products for their families so create a quality product that you, as a mom, know is unique and useful, a creative gift, helpful and/or provides solutions.
