How Can I Improve My Memory… In 55 Seconds

No pictures, not much text. Just 55 seconds until you discover how to dramatically improve your memory:

1. Picture Association – This method will shock you. Simply associate stuff you need to remember with pictures. It works AMAZINGLY well, and here is a blog I wrote with all the details.

2. Believe It – Just like everything else, your behavior follows what you say to yourself. Keep saying you have good memory, and it will actually start to improve.

3. Get Your 8 Hours – The most over looked component of poor memory, is lack of sleep. Get more Zzz’s, and your memory will improve.

4. Hit The Weight Room – Your brain is an organ, just like your heart. When you exercise good things happen to your heart and to your brain.

5. Pen & Paper – Who said you couldn’t cheat? Write it down!

Your post reminds me of a strategy I use to remember where I put things. I picked this up in The Groom’s Survival Manual. The book suggests that you take a mental snapshot of the moments you want to remember during your wedding and the accompanying hoopla. Otherwise, the whole weekend goes by in a blur and that’s how you remember it.

I use this same technique to remember where I put stuff (especially when I’m in a hurry). I blink my eyes (like Samantha from Bewitched) and take a “mindshot”.

Try it. You’ll be amazed at how well the image sticks in your memory.
