Yes! All very great tips! I know basic HTML and how to format a good looking site, but just very basic. I learned late in life that it’s better to just leave the website design to the professionals. Investing in your website is one of the best things you can do for your business.

I’d add not having a way to measure your success, or even have success for your website defined for yourself. Look at Darcy Volden Hoag’s comment about the Most Wanted Response. Figure out what you want your visitors to do, then measure to see if they actually do that. Put an analytics package on your website, use conversion tracking if you have PPC advertising, use call tracking and unique phone numbers for each channel, and then see if your efforts are working.

@Keri – HOTDOG!!! Thanks for adding that. I agree COMPLETELY. Analytic are key – and i personally love Google’s stuff. The analytical and the optimizing tools are amazing, and give you the knowledge to improve.

This is a great way to present some valuable information – thanks. I work with Jeff and we certainly see a ton of websites that look good but are not do anything for the company in terms of getting them found online or helping them connect with prospects and clients.

Tracking who comes to your site is critical for understanding what content is working for you. Capturing your leads online is the starting point for lead nurturing and closing the Inbound Marketing loop. If you plan to make the investment to bring your website from the stagnant brochure of the 90′s to the interactive sales tool of today, look at the website platforms available to measure activity. We recommend Hubspot – 19 applications all on one platform. The website is the new member of the sales team.
