    An “I agree” or “I Understand” followed by a “but” would not be helpful…

    1. Listen, do not interrupt or try to explain policies or guidelines while the rant is going…
    2. Once they finish, apologize that situation has got so ugly.
    3. Empathize and suggest options and solutions…
    4. Bribe them to make sure they don’t badmouth later! Learn it from the upscale hotels and car rental companies. They always offer you some sort of an upgrade in case they mess up anything, a free dinner for two at their own restaurant, or a VIP floor access, or a luxury car at the same rate as an economy sedan…
    5. And this is the last resort, fire the bad customers or charge them more!

    PS: I learned #5 from the Big Brother Michalowicz ;-)

      @Deveh – Hell yes…. avoid the big “BUT” it defeats the entire positive experience.
