Why In The World Should I Buy Promotional Products?

Conventional marketing outlets such as newspaper advertisements, billboards, television commercials, and radio ads gather attention for your product or service, but that attention may not last as long as you’d like. What happens when your audience turns off the TV or forgets about the billboard they passed on the way to work? Promotional products keep your company logo and contact information in front of customers for longer and for a fraction of the cost.

Promotional advertising is effective because it repeatedly draws attention to logos and slogans and builds people’s opinions of a brand. The combination of direct marketing and promotional products is incredibly successful because it provides potential customers with personal interaction as well as with free gifts. Customers will benefit from your company merchandise because they’ll find it valuable, and you will benefit because those customers will familiarize themselves with your brand and increase the chances of repeat business.

Unlike disposable items such as sales flyers or fleeting media advertisements, valuable promo items like tote bags or plastic sports bottles stay in sight for an extended period of time and reinforce brand recognition. Promotional items are less costly than traditional advertising methods and often provide a higher ROI (return on investment). Plus, you don’t need to be a millionaire to put your logo and slogan on some creative giveaways! Businesses of all types benefit from promotional advertising because it provides business owners with an opportunity to make every cent count.

Promo items aren’t industry-specific, either. Companies all over the world—from multi-billion-dollar corporations and small businesses to non-profit organizations—rely on promo products to boost revenue and brand loyalty. Customizable gifts are popular for trade shows and conventions, for fund raising purposes, for employee incentives, for direct mailings, and any other event you can imagine.

Most people think of logo pens when they think of promotional items, but the advertising specialty industry extends much further than writing instruments. Giveaway items are available in more varieties than you may realize; promotional products can be simple gifts like can cozies or stress balls or they can be higher-value gifts like personalized clothing or engraved crystal awards.

Your options are only limited by your marketing budget!

I love promo products! I will always take a free mug or hat or whatever from a brand giving away products. I agree about the pens – pens come and go far quicker than a mug or a hat or even a t-shirt. As long as it’s something tangible and they’ll actually use, then promotional products are excellent! Thanks for the post!

@Morgan – Yep promo products have staying power. I suggest giving them away during a unique event/experience. That way every time the prospect looks at the promo product they remember a unique/fun experience… and that is a good association to have.

Promo Products are a FANTASTIC way to Brand your company or brand yourself. I have had many instances that someone remembered me because of a fantastic little promo toy I gave them with my info on it.

    Hey Mike,

I would agree with you fully! Like i mentioned in my previous post, Promo products are probably one of the best ways to keep your logo out there for the price.

The association you mentioned is a great point!

Big Mike! Being in the promotional product industry first hand, I have case study after case study of how effective a fitly chosen product can be. Being an avid TPE allows me a unique perspective of seeing the purchase through the eyes of an entrepreneur. Sometimes a logo’d pen will work great, when other times call for a custom overseas project. Finding the right company to help you with your purchase is key. Make sure they know how your business works, and that they are willing to bring some fresh ideas to you.

    Hope all is well!

Hi Mike, this is a great post! I do like the idea of promo products too as they have a much higher return on investment that other advertising methods. What I wanted to ask is this: Have you considered the use of Fair Trade Products as means to putting your brand on? For example, what about mugs, or t-shirts, or coffee bags or craft that has been made in organisations that apply fair trade policies. My business has nothing to do with promoting fair trade items. However, I feel that by using them, the impact is twofold. First, we use effective tools to promote our businesses, and secondly, we become social entrepreneurs that give back to the community.
