It’s all about the niche. In addition to focusing your resources and commanding higher pay for specialized work, finding your niche turns your competitors into your referral partners. Soon your referral partners are subcontracting you – the ultimate flying under the radar.

Thanks for posting my tip at #1, not that that means anything I’m sure but felt great to see. I’ll add that I learned this lesson the hard way in YSB. We RECENTLY just started out “SUPER Niche” campaign after about 6 months pounding on what we thought was our niche but realizing we needed to scale down 2 additional levels (we niched from small business to micro biz but then realized we needed to niche to companies in that group with financial issues down to one specific industry in particular.

So far it’s working like a charm, sure the urge to revert back to our old networking methods appears but having this hyper focus is helping already streamline our marketing and really honing down on who to network with. I think all Start-ups have this issue at some point, I’m glad we caught ours early on.

Hey Katrina – Congrats on getting the number one spot (the system we use http://www.BlogStampede.com randomly positions people – so I wasn’t anything we do). Your tip was great and I am happy it automatically made it to the number one spot! Thanks for being part of TPE.
