7. What, Me Worry?
"Expect Nothing. Be Ready for Anything." These four words have been my mantra since my early 20's. The meaning is simple: Stop worrying and obsessing about what might happen in a given situation. Spend that energy exploring and preparing for any eventuality. If nothing happens, you've wasted hours stressing needlessly, and if something does happen, you've got a well-thought-out counter-plan ready to go. Of course, MAD mag's Alfred E. Neumann's catch phrase, "What, Me Worry?" are wise words, too!

I had a competitor verbally attack me and my business on a national radio show. Instead of seeking revenge and stooping to her level I had a complete stranger give me the best advice. 30. Do What You Love
Do what you love and love what you do.This has been a foundation for me and my company. I could not imagine" working" for a living, let alone doing something that you didn't love and have passion for. What would be the point? Now yes there are days that are difficult, people and experiences that are less than joyful and they happen all the time, but it always comes back to doing what i love. I even had that quote taped to the bathroom mirror so I would see it. Now that I own my own digital media business, Managed Mischief Inc. I remember it every day. 52. Who ARE You?
We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? Your playing small doesn't serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people wont feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others. 87. You Don't Have Me
3 months before the scheduled launch of a new business I was diagnosed w/ stage 4 Colon Cancer at the age of 45.
"I have cancer.... cancer does not have me" was a quote I programed into my phone to come up everyday. On particularly rough/chemo days I hit the snooze button all day long so that quote came up every hour.
Btw.. We launched despite the illness & thankfully I am cancer free today.

88. Choose Your Thoughts
"Worry is a misuse of imagination" Steve Chandler
Every time I play "worst case scenarios" in my head, I remember this quote and start thinking of more useful ways to use my imagination and brain power - like coming up with new ideas for my business. It puts me back in the driver's seat, rather than letting my brain run me.
I also like Robert Holden's "Stay open all hours for miracles" which adds another nice perspective to allow good things to happen which we (think) we don't control.

89. "Canning" = peacefulness
As a TV Producer, I am constantly barraged with paperwork, emails and incessant phone calls. Prioritizing is key. I'm reminded of my mom, Nancy Craig, who died 31 years ago. She was a stay-at-home mom,and although not faced with the rigors of office life, my mom clearly understood too little time and too much to do.
Nancy wisely said, "Do what you can...and can what you can't." At day's end, these words offer solace and elicit peacefulness - and who, in today's world, doesn't need that?

91. Promote Yourself
The best quote I have ever heard for an entrepreneur is "It's up to you to toot your own horn." I live by this quote because it is 100% true. If you are a small business owner and new to the game, more than likely people have not heard of you, so, don't be afraid to talk about yourself. If you won't do it then no one else will.

The mind is a parachute it only works when it is open.

94. Self-Preservation Rule #1
Put the oxygen mask on yourself before attempting to assist others.

95. A Master in the Art of Living
"A master in the art of living draws no sharp distinction between his work and his play; his labour and his leisure; his mind and his body; his education and his recreation. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence through whatever he is doing, and leaves others to determine whether he is working or playing. To himself, he always appears to be doing both." Francois Auguste Rene Chateaubriand

Make it happen!
– Jim Frank
Once upon a summer internship, a supervisor repeated those words often. He knew that believing in your power to succeed was the first step toward success. I’ve carried that mentality into every job since. And guess what? I do make it happen!
