I've been struggling with contests and with efforts to get opinions from customers. I haven't really combined having a contest that incorporates getting input from customers. Guess I need to take it to the next level and combine these efforts. Thanks for the great idea.

This is tremendous. There is no better way to market than involving the customer. By involving the customer in the process this is great PR and will enable the business word to expand.

@Bill - Structure win-win-wins. For example we often do a list post. It is a win for us, since we are the source of the post. It is a win for people who volunteer the material since it increases their exposure, and it is a win for the reader since they get great information. So... try a list post, or try anything else where you can structure a win-win-win and you will get a lot of people supporting you. We do.

Great Mike but what about beyond the community. We are a start-up and need to get word out far and wide. At the same time that we would like to run a national email campaign we don't have the resources to purchase a targeted list. Is there another way to get an opt-in list going? We've tried all of the usual methods but with no luck.

Another FANTASTIC answer to one FANTASTIC question! ;0) lol

Of course you always make us laugh and give us great knowledge and wisdom ooh wise one! I have to agree that getting the community involved and building a relationship in your 'backyard' is what provides a strong foundation.

Word of mouth advertising is so powerful!
Thanks Mike -
