Great post! I recently read Scott Edmund Miller’s latest book, “The User’s Guide to Being Human: The Art and Science of Self” and have learned how to look deep inside myself to find my hidden talents- I discovered that I am really good at documenting my family history through scrapbooking and journaling.

I have had problems finding my talent. I have always been drawn towards Science, Maths, Cooking and Art.
Recently I got thrown out of my Biology A Level classes for failing. I have been put on a three year course for Maths instead of the 2 year course because I was struggling. I have been struggling at my Food coursework, and I have had some very harsh criticism of my Art work. It seems like everything I was drawn to isn’t my talent. I have found an interest in making clothes, the feel of fabric ect. But I’m not too good at it. I try to try things but I have no money, and being only 16 I can’t get a loan to explore things I am interested in.
I feel like it is vital I find something since I have to start thinking about careers and University very soon so that I do something I enjoy and am good at.
I have extreme stage fright, very low self-esteem and I find it hard to talk to people face-to-face and down the phone.
I need your help,
Any suggestions?

Hi Mike, I am having problem with myself in looking for talents, not just because i don’t have one but because i am always so contradicted with myself. I don’t know if it is the culture problem or some of my social issues.. but I’ve always compare myself to others. I wanted to be the “best” at something and if i am not i will just be discouraged and just tell myself “i suck at everything’ and.. in the end i could never find what i am really good at.
