Another way parents can help children is by helping them to set budgets and learn the importance of working, giving, and saving.
Instead of an allowance, give them an honest paycheck. Asign a dollar amount for each chore and give them check marks every day for showing up to work. For every day that there is not a check mark, that is considered money not earned because they did not show up to work.
This works great for younger children.
Our children have been on this system now for 2 years. One is 8 and one is 7. Both through out the last two years have started to develop negotiating skills to earn extra money to place in their bank accounts.
