Business Ideas For Young Entrepreneurs

1. Fix Computers & Gift Service

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: My son started when he was about 10 fixing computers and selling on e-bay. He used his Christmas and chore money to buy a laptop and uses it to fix computers remotely. He also makes house calls or people come to him. My daughter has been selling gift items since she was 9 during holiday seasons & for birthdays: home baked goods & hand-crafted gifts. She also offers her wrapping service. Now she is writing a cookbook featuring some of her recipes as well as others people have e-mailed to her.

2. Teach Them Passive Income

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: When I was buying our first apartment building, I realized that the kids savings bonds weren’t really earning anything. So we cashed them in and now the four of them are invested in & equity owners in the apartment building. Probably the only kids their age that “own” an apartment building! I talk income, expenses, occupancy and repairs with them, and they’re interested because they have a piece of the action. The best part? They have each developed a “business mindset”.

3. Animal Care For Your Pets

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: People who travel like to know their pets are cared for and being in their own home is the best for animals. This might involve walking dogs, feeding dogs, cats, or even horses and general grooming. You can hire additional people so the business could be expanded to many additional areas.

4. Let Them Learn And Earn Online

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: Our 3 kids went on an Internet Marketing weekend together with me and my husband (of course they learnt the quickest:))
They have since then started their own IM projects in areas they are passionate about and learnt loads and started to create money that way. I think this is a great opportunity for everybody, kids as well, to get into an independent entrepreneurial mindset.
Don’t underestimate the kids!

5. Wrap It Up!

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: Most kids (ok, well girls) LOVE to wrap gifts. If you have a child (probably preteen-teen) that displays creativity, that’s a great way to make holiday money AND some extra money throughout the year with birthdays, anniversaries, etc.

Thanks To: Danielle Miller of Miller Coaching & Consulting Intl

6. Private Pet Walker

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: For kids that enjoy animals, an entrepreneurial opportunity is providing a dog walking service. An easy way to get customers is to walk your neighborhood (with a parent) and knock on doors saying you are starting a dog walking business and if they would like for you to walk their pet for 20 minutes a day (or every other day) for only $5 per time. And, you’ll clean up the poop too.

7. Rags To Riches

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: Simply put I would always recommend car washing (age of child dependant) but as we care more for our car hand washing is in demand.

8. Social Media Mavens

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: Teenagers are the experts when it comes to social media: facebook, YouTube, etc. A business where they set up and post on all the media outlets for a company targeting teenagers would be great for them. They can easily use PayPal as their payment portal for getting paid for their services.

9. Lemons Into Lemon-bars!

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: Forget the typical lemonade stand, start a cookie business with your favorite cookie, whether it be chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, or lemon-bars. Get mom’s recipe or a create your own. Put a couple in cellophane bags, tie with ribbon, and sell, sell, sell. You can sell these at the park, at the fair, or even in your schools (make sure that it’s okay with the proper authorities. Then, with today’s communication via the NET, you can advertise & promote your new business on blogsites! Good luck!

10. Get Me Hooked Up!

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: I always look for a neighborhood kid when I buy new electronics -I can’t even figure out how to hook up a new t.v. without the help of a kid who easily winds their way through the maze of wires.

Start a “set it up for you” biz to help set up new t.vs, playstations, dvds, etc. I bought a playstation for my hubby last year and we had to get help AND were happy to pay handsomely.

11. Online Is The Place To Be

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: In the virtual world you can be what you want to be. More importantly, as a very young entrepreneur, you can be who your customers want you to be.

So, it doesn’t matter if you help older folk make sense of selling on Ebay or set up a site to trade jokes, just do something.

The experience you get now, wlll give you a head start later and . . . . might ust make you a fortue right now!

Thanks To: Robert Ashton of Robert Ashton

12. Find Success In Being Needed

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: You don’t have to get real creative to find success. Find a need and be the one to fill it. If you love the outdoors, offer your services for those who dread the seasonal tasks of sweeping, raking, shoveling snow and the big one – weeding! Include washing outside windows to help those who can’t get on stools. These services can expand. When word gets out how dependable and helpful you are – WOW! You will be busy every season, all year! I already need you…………….

13. Magpie In Training

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: With an eye for shiny things and a creative side Jewelry is a very good business to start off with. My daughter started her own website and business and has found it very rewarding. She is getting more business-like in her thinking now she has sold some items too – less of the giving away to friends and as samples and is now interested in making money! She is using free web tools via Dad’s advice and business but she is working the site, the store and marketing. http://jessicasjewelsonline.co

14. Director Of Field Development

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: Go with the child’s passion and what they’re good at. This in itself is a valuable lesson early on. A unique idea my friend’s daughter had was to start a “Doggie Day Care”, which included walking dogs, taking care of them at their house whilst people are at work and housing them when people were on vacation. She marketed it well, serviced both her 4 legged friends and their owners very well and soon had a thriving business. The key to her success: She has a passion for taking care of animals.

15. Young Artisans

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: For creative kids they can easily start a business selling their art such as beaded jewelry, framed paintings, small drawings on bookmarks, sketches as greeting cards, or digital graphic logos. Kids in 2010 are imaginative and resourceful.

This can be quick and easy, as some art can be created in an afternoon! And when the first sale is made, even if it is to a family member or friend, it feels GREAT!

(I am proud to say my 14-year-old daughter is the artist behind my own cartoon)

16. Show An Adult How To Do Things

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: Many children today are more tech savvy than their elders. Put that knowledge to good use by showing a small business owner how to find information easily on the Internet and how to generate positive buzz by effectively using social media to promote their business.

As is often the case with consultants, after the initial consultation your customer may decide they’d rather pay you to do something for them rather than take the time to do it themselves!

Thanks To: Scott Swanay of Fantasy Baseball Sherpa

17. Let Me Do It For You

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: For me when I was a child I offered to pull the weeds from my neighbors’ gardens in the springtime. The 3 neighbors I asked all agreed to let me do it since they hated doing it. I remember it as being a win win for all of us. One neighbor then asked me later in the year to help her set up and take down her Christmas decorations. My advice to children and adults is to Offer to do what others don’t want to do- as long as the child is safe… who knows where it could lead.

Thanks To: Dianne Sikel of DoneForYou.Me

18. Market Your Unique Skill

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: Young people have a natural affinity to embrace and utilize technology. With virtually no cost, a teenager can start a consulting business assisting small and large companies maximize their use of technology to promote sales, conduct research, target new markets, build brand image, etc. They can manage Facebook and Twitter accounts, provide content to websites, advise on mobile marketing, and so much more. I am now training high school students to do this as a marketing effort for their school.

Thanks To: Michael Sisti of Sisti & Others, Inc.

19. Headhunter Business

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: One idea that a young entrepreneur can take advantage of is a work-for-hire business for neighborhood odd-jobs. For example, if a neighbor needs their lawn cut, a child can contract the work to a neighborhood child who is looking to make some quick money. If a young entrepreneur establishes himself/herself as the “go-to-guy” for odd-jobs, this can prove profitable. This would be analogous to a neighborhood headhunter. All children try to make money, and entrepreneurs can capitalize on that need.

Thanks To: Mark Hall of Input Ladder

20. Spread Holiday Spirit

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: Create and sell custom holiday cards. Together, a group of kids can create greeting cards featuring art and poems about what the holidays mean to them. The young entrepreneurs can sell the cards to businesses that are looking to reach their customers in a different way this holiday season. A portion of the proceeds can be donated to a a youth charity chosen by the young entrepreneurs (e.g. an arts non-profit like Free Arts).

Thanks To: Sam Alpert of David and Sam PR

21. Poop Patrol For The Youngsters

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: The best business tip for a youngster between the ages of 6+ is ‘poop patrol’. AKA “pooper scoopers” – its a relatively easy business with zero overhead. This simple business can be the foundation for a future of entrepreneurs.

Thanks To: Cindy Tollen of Sudz N Bubbles, Ltd

22. Turn Chores Into Cash

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: MY GRANDSON HAS TAKEN HIS RESPONSIBILITY FOR MOWING THE LAWN AND PICKING UP LEAVES AND TURNED IT INTO A NEIGHBORHOOD BUSINESS. COMPLETE WITH BUSINESS CARDS THAT DETAIL EACH OF HIS CAPABILITIES (TRIMMING SHRUBS, FERTILIZINGM ETC.)THIS EXPERIENCE IS TRAINING HIM TO SET PRICING – SOME SERVICES ARE BUNDLED, OTHERS ARE INDIVIDUALLY PRICES, LEARN ABOUT MARKETING AND UNDERSTANDING LIMITS. AT AGE TWELVE, HE CAN ONLY SERVICE THOSE CUSTOMERS WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE FROM HOME.

Thanks To: SUSAN BARI of Leader to Leader Institute

23. It All Starts With The Basics

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: Even a kool-aid stand can be done poorly. Bad corner (location), bad signage (poor promotion), poor product (no repeat sales.) You have to get the basics right before you advance, even in the kool-aid and lemonade business.

If you got that down, then the next step I would advise also takes advantage of a similar situation and people’s desires to help kids. Selling flowers on corners. That’s how I got my main start after high-school, and made plenty of money doing it.

Thanks To: John Schulte of National Mail Order Association

24. Ideas For Young Entrepreneur

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: IDEA #1: Nobody has time to brush little Rover. Have your entrepreneur offer Pet Grooming Services!

IDEA #2: For Birthdays, anniversaries, graduation, holidays.. Make Gift Baskets! (take orders from friends & family now=ease their stress)!

IDEA #3: Is your kid a baker? Make/sell organic cookies! People love them homemade.

IDEA #4: For Birthdays, anniversaries, graduation, holidays.. Start a Gift Wrapping Service.

Thanks To: Sean Bouani of Bouje Publishing

25. Be Green And Earn Green!

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: Teach a young child the importance of earning money AND doing good. For example, there are artists in every town that make things using recycled items. Have your child team up with an artist to collect the items they use (cans, bags, metals, computer parts, clothing, etc) and then sell them to the artist who will then turn the items back into a usable commodity. Your child learns about making and handling money while doing something good for the environment and learning ways to reuse and recycle.

Thanks To: Dawn Veselka of Out of the Blue Delivered

26. Sell Everything

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: Sell everything that your child has out grown. Many companies sell baby clothes and toys on consignment and will give a percentage of the money that comes in on your products. Set the money aside and as your child gets older, he/she can help separate, clean, tag, inventory and display the things that were once theirs. They then can see it go to someone else. They will then start understanding the meaning of hard work and how to be wise with their investments for life.

Thanks To: Edwin Soler of Libreria Berea

27. A Lot Of Small Jobs

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: Something kids can start today is a business helping out neighbours or people within their community with small chores around the yard, inside the house etc. Obviously, the parents would need to make sure the kid doesn’t go to a bad house. This business can be done on a shoestring, use the printer at home and stick the advertisement around the neighbourhood. Basically, anywhere you can advertise your ‘help around the house’ business will do a lot to drive traffic to your service.

Thanks To: Marc Anderson of TalktoCanada.com

28. Thriving Young Artists!

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: My nine year old daughter Marin is an extraordinary artist. She asked if she could sell some of her art this summer in lieu of setting up a lemonade stand.

She plans to create 3 original illustrations. When the drawings are complete, she will make 10 color copies of each illustration and mount them on colored mats.

She plans to sell each print for $4.00 at the Suttons Bay art fair this summer and will net $2.50 per print sold. When she sells all 30 prints she will make $75.00.

Thanks To: Shann Vander Leek of True Balance Life Coaching

29. Teach Computer Skills

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: It’s a standard joke that only youngsters can make good use of latest electronic devices and software. What if there aren’t any youngsters in your household to teach you? That’s a need that young entrepreneurs can serve for empty nest adults and seniors in their neighborhoods who want to do more with their computers and cell phones . . . but aren’t sure how to learn. For adults who just want answers, not more facility, these youngsters could also provide research services priced by the hour.

30. Start At The Top! Be The Ceo

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: One of the best things I did with my son when he was growing up was play the Cashflow game. (http://bit.ly/5dzy7r) The game teaches players to buy assets instead of liabilities and how to use a balance sheet and an income statement to track and guide their financial progress from working for money to having money work for them. Players start the game with a job and bills and learn the investment mindset for running their business and financial life successfully. We had fun and he got the lessons.

Thanks To: Giovanni Isaksen of Ashowrth Partners Ltd.

31. Ebay Baby!

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: Show your kids how they can take their
earnings” from doing household chores… (see Mike’s post on Skip The Allowance…)

… and leverage their interests buying and selling on Ebay.

For example, perhaps your child is a World War II history buff…

My nephew, starting at age 8, has earned a couple thousand dollars buying, selling, and trading WWII collectibles online.

Thanks To: Walt Goshert of BTZWeb

32. Girl Power

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: My daughter Briea is an entrepreneur. I encouraged her to start her own teen advice blog. She loves communicating her thoughts online via her website girlmuch.com
She works daily on building her following, and sells t-shirts on her site as well. A teen online website is a great idea for the young entrepreneur.

Thanks To: Tracy Wright of Executees, Inc.

33. Writing 2010 Style

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: Some smart young millionaires-to-be should find a hip way to teach their peers how to write well. Social networking – done and done again. But, text-talk is invading business communication and it isn’t a pretty thing. Add a little old school style to next gen delivery systems and you’ve got a win-win!

Thanks To: Christine Scioli of Zan Media

34. Tots Need Your Knowledge

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: For any young child that knows how to read and elementary math, etc., he/she could start a Tutoring for Tots service. He/she could sell the service during daycare hours afterschool where he/she and some friends could teach 3 – 4 year olds basic words, basic skills on reading, songs, and very basic math. This could be done at daycare centers everywhere. Children teaching children has been very effective. But, as far as I know, not done anywhere on a mass scale. So, my tip – start tutoring!

Thanks To: Lisa Feeley of Got2Know

35. Creat A Sweet Tooth Biz

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: I think kids like to creat things AND get messy…teaching them to make their favorite kind of cookie, in whatever shape inspires them and going through every aspect of the business from sourcing the ingredients, to finding the best price, to the actual production (baking) and streamlining the baking process, to pricing, to finally packaging and branding. Help them create packaging that aligns with their interests and their own individual style and then set up a fun branding & marketing system.

Thanks To: Susan M. Baker of Escape Hatcher

36. Send In The Clowns Dude!

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: When my son was in his teens he was tall and had lots of hair, and little kids loved him. He was like a pied piper or something for kids, and still is. I had this brillant idea to organize kid’s birthday parties, cater, and have him be a guitar playing clown. Since kids gravitated to him anyway–well the idea was a hit. I think anytime you can teach kids the beauty of entrepreunership, it’s super. No one is “entitled”; learning to work hard and well is a great thing to teach kids.

Thanks To: Sandy Wheeler of Sandy Wheeler Travel Specialties

37. Bluebeary Birthday Parties

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: My friend Kathleen wrote a children’s book about a white stuffed bear who turns blue & brown & gets renamed BlueBeary. Last summer we published it & have been dreaming spin-offs, e.g. mascot & colouring pages. Realizing that birthday parties are big business & BlueBeary comes with obvious activities & gifts, I partnered with my 12 year old niece, we planned, and we’re having our first BlueBeary birthday party this weekend. Here’s to a party hosting franchise for kids!

Thanks To: Colleen Taylor of Siretona Creative

38. The Candy Kid!

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: When I was 12 years old, my mom and dad took me to Sams Club so I could spend my summer savings (from mowing lawns) on a membership. I used that to buy dozens of chocolate bars, bags of bubble gum, and other sweets. I seperated and bagged the candy and took it to school to sell for a profit. My school did not take too kindly to the idea, but it was simple, had a very high demand, and was profitable. So try a candy store out of your locker or backpack, but check with your school first!

Thanks To: Matt Shoup of Shoup Consulting

39. Sugar And Spice!

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: For girls, making and selling jewellry(like friendship bracelets) or hair accessories. Boys can customize shoelaces, and even doodle on skateboards. Both sexes can make decals and set up recycling stations. In other words, both girls and boys have many opportunities to use their time and talents to start businesses. It takes thought, analysis and hard work, but there is a niche for all small entrepreneurs!

Thanks To: Doula Angelita of Resurgam BirthingWell8899

40. Photos + Stories = Product

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: Our daughter loves the digital camera. She also loves to tell her version of what her photos are. Her perspective is better than mine. She takes photos in our neighborhood. Then, she picks her favorites, tells a story to go with each photo. We print them up as sets of note cards. She includes the location, story, her name and date. She’s sold several sets because her stories are so silly. A photo of flowers can take on a whole new meaning when you can see hidden fairies behind them.

41. Know Thy Child.

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: Just as adults start businesses for different reasons, so too with kids. Is the child altruistic & wanting to help others, animals, or communities? A leader of teams who will thrive in any project so long as they inspire others? A tech-kid who doesn’t even recognize that her innovative code is marketable? It’s easier to spot an inventor or the inate marketing/sales skill-set. But mentoring a child means first recognizing their unique gifts. This is where passion and ability=Entrepreneurialism.

Thanks To: Kat Fitzgerald of Camp TechWise

42. Little Green Hornet

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: When I was a kid, the “Green Hornet” was one of my favorite super heroes. Kids can be green hornets too by creating a recycling company. They can contact the neighbors, local businesses, churches and schools to collect recyclables, used ink cartridges, etc. then partner with local recycling companies to deliver them.

This will not only teach business skills such as negotiations and sales, but will help them understand the importance of keeping the environment clean and green.

Thanks To: Gail Turner Brown of Small Business Network TV

43. Dog Gone It

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: My best business idea for a child entrepreneur would be to start a home-made dog bone business. With a little parent participation to purchase dog bone shaped cookie cutters (available online), and with the oven, a child can easily make natural dog bones and sell them to neighbors and local shops.

There are even paw-print Chinese-type takeout containers for packaging. Free recipes are available online with a keyword search.

Thanks To: Michelle Hill of Winning Proof

44. Sell, Share And Profit!

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: Hosting a Yard sale, with a cause, and make money. Work with other kids (and their parents) to hold a community yard sale selling toys, clothes, video games, music or books that kids no longer want, but are still useable for somebody else.. At a bargain price! Donate part of sales to an organization for children, take the rest.
It teaches them to appreciate the value of what they have and makes them aware of support and encouragement that they get from other kids and their families.

Thanks To: Aisha Bauer of eSutras Organics

45. Scoop Poop!

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: I know it sounds silly, but think about it. Wherever there is a problem, there is the potential to make money. And, poop is a problem!

People are busy. They barely have time to cook and clean, let alone clean up their yards if they have pets. And, the Elderly may not even be able handle a scooper if they have arthritis or a bad back.

Once my kids are grown, I’d definitely hire a service to keep my yard clean.

Thanks To: Nicole Dean of Show Kids the Money

46. Never Too Young For Giving

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: You could say it’s a business, and it’s the business of giving.

The other day we received a letter from an elementary school student who had a philanthropy project. He was in 5th grade.

He raised $25 and sent the proceeds to UniversalGiving. “Please send a soccer ball to a child in Somalia. Because soccer players are my heroes. Without soccer, there is no ‘hop’ (hope).

Anyone can get in the business of giving at a young age. See where it takes you.

Thanks To: Pamela Hawley of UniversalGiving

47. Innovative Kids

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: Teach your kids to be innovators and problem solvers.
1. Identify a problem or pain that needs solving (watch for problems in your everyday life).
2. Brainstorm with your child to identify solutions to the problem. Create a new solution to the problem or improve an existing solution. Write down all ideas.
3. Expand the solution. Can the solution be expanded into another market with similar problems?
Make it FUN!
Good solutions are entrepreneurial opportunities.

Thanks To: Steve Sponseller of Innovation Strategies Inc.

48. Make It Simple – Make It Fun!

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: What a great time to be a young entrepreneur!! Kids today are so computer savvy. Within minutes they can set up a paypal account and a simple web presence announcing their unique products. So first look at what you love: comic books, rubber ducks, unique cat toys you make, whatever. You can easily set up a website and offer almost anything. Products can be sourced on-line and many companies will even drop ship so there is no inventory. The internet age has leveled the playing field for all ages!

Thanks To: Craig Wolfe of CelebriDucks

49. Is Fun Worth Anything?

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: A vital question for entrepreneurs young and old: how much is your time worth? When my daughter decided to sell her duct-tape wallets, it was easy to explain how to shop at the 99cent store and subtract costs to calculate “profit”. But I also reminded her that her free time was limited, and therefore valuable. By dividing her profit by the hours it took to make each wallet, she calculated how much she was really “paying” herself per hour and was able to decide if it was “fun” after all.

Thanks To: Kelly Lester of EasyLunchboxes.com

50. The Secret Is

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur:
Look for a need and fill it. Think about how you can help the people around you. Consider what you love to do and what you’re good at that others would want to learn.

From traditional favorites like dog walking, pet sitting, childcare, to contemporary options such as teaching adults about MySpace, Facebook, how to download music, you can fill a need.

Dare to dream, give the best customer service and have fun; business is a blast!

Thanks To: Judith Lukomski of Transitions Today Inc.

51. Kids Are Masters Of Technology

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: A great business idea for kids would be to help out technology challenged adults. Here are some examples: Program Grandma’s DVR with all her faves – $20 bucks, get the family’s new printer set up and linked to all the home computers – $15 bucks, etc. Kids today know so much more about all kinds of technology than many adults do. There is definitely money to be made with that knowledge!

Thanks To: Debra Medina of Spa Time Baby

52. Do What You Love

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: Parents can teach kids about entrepreneurship by letting them find their passion, even if they’re not initially good at what they love. If they’re not good at first, they can either build their skills or find a different way to be involved – not every basketball coach can dunk a basketball. Kids make the connection when something they already enjoy doing has the added bonus of making money.

Thanks To: Charles Paul of Artwork for Education

53. Two Words-internet Baby!

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: If you are a young entrepreneur, you really need to look into starting an online business. These days, it would be a very good choice to start a career in business by making money online. Kids these days are very fortunate to be a part of the age for internet marketers. There is a mass of information for internet marketing and resources are growing every day. You have a lot of choices, but must plan how you are going to begin your money making venture.

Thanks To: Eric Kates of MortgageLeads.com

54. Use Your Natural Talent!

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: Have a special talent/hobby? There are kids who want to learn how to do what you do. Teach them. Create a ‘How To..’ video of it. Show off your special talent/hobby. Create a website where you give away your video in exchange for an email address and first name. This way you can build your list of members who are interested in your special talent/hobby, your ‘niche’. Then find affiliate products that compliment your ‘niche’ and promote their stuff to your list with your affiliate link.

55. Dog Walking Rocks!

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: A great idea for kids to do is to walk their friends and neighbors dogs. So many people in today’s society work all day and those that have dogs may not have the chance to get out and walk their pups. Many people also have apartments or condos where they don’t have a yard for them to run around in either. Dogs need exercise and if the owner doesn’t have time, the kid can easily take the dog on a 30 min walk in the neighborhood. We did this as kids nobody could touch our dog walking biz!

56. The Sweet Taste Of Success

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: I remember it like yesterday…I was 5 yrs old; my brother, 3. My dad had just put up the new sign on his 5 & 10: “Miller & Sons”! I was proud! It was great to get free penny candy & grape soda after the customers had left. I wanted to be like my dad & that’s why I recommend the candy biz for young entrepreneurs.
Why?
It’s CONSUMABLE. Every kid-not matter how old-loves it!
It’s PORTABLE: Back pack. Book Bag. Duffle.
It’s SCALABLE: From single pieces to bulk buys.

Thanks To: Dino Herbert of For Leap’s Sake

57. Give Me My Gift Basket

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: A child could start a gift basket business. When my daughter was 10 she wanted to go to her favorite amusement park. I let her know that the only way she could was to sell gift baskets for $10 a piece. Within 30 minutes she sold all of the gift baskets. I let her handle the interactions with each customer. After the successful event she was able to go to her fun place and return home with some extra cash.

58. Forget Lemonade Sell Necklaces

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: It doesn’t cost very much to buy a variety of colourful beads and string…so why not let them be creative and earn money at the same time?! The kids will get a sense of pride in their product and will remember the work that it took to make it, so each sale will be special! These necklaces can be sold to family and friends or even at garage sales! If you happen to have parents that own a web design firm then you can even design your own site to sell your creations such as www.hannahrocks.ca

59. That Kid Can Sell!

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: There are tons of opportunities for our youth to start down the road to entrepreneurship.

One easy but not so obvious job is a garage sale business. All you need is the ability to set up items for sale, add prices and stand in the yard.

A kid can host garage sales for neighbors and take a percentage of the sales. They also can charge a small upfront fee for the physical labor and time.

60. Raising

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: Hyacinth Tucker is an Entrepreneur that is also a parent of two, that instills the following lessons in her own children and has already seen the strong entrepreneur traits she exudes herself in them. Parents can teach their children entrepreneurship by just simple life lessons. One of which is leadership, and in order to have a leadership skill you would need to have independence and integrity. When teaching your child to be independent you should allow them to do things on their own.

61. Be The Solution!

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: My one business tip isn’t about a particular business. It’s about a particular mindset. What works for someone else might not work for you.

Be in the habit of looking around for problems and when you find one, figure out how to solve the problem with your own skills and resources. Real business success isn’t about slick salesmanship it’s about giving people a product or service they really need and really want.

Be the solution!

62. Monopoly Money

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: Play a lot of Monopoly. If you follow the goals of this game in life – buy a house with cash, charge rent, use this rent money to buy more house and eventually hotels – you will be very wealthy.

63. The Turn-off

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: My daughter came up with a great invention: it’s called, “The Turn-Off!”
She thought of it because I kept asking her to get out of bed after reading at night, to turn off the light. So she came up with the idea of a long, retractable stick (like an antenna) with a little hook at the end, that she could simply elongate and then reach over to the light to turn it off. So, we went to the used car parts store, found her an old antenna, and developed a prototype. It came out great!!!

64. Get Wom Immediately!

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: Word-of-Mouth is THE best method for building brand identity, trust & custoomers. Ask everyone you know in the world to spread the word: classmates, friends, parents of friends, family & their friends, teachers, club members, neighbors. Steps: 1. Offer an explanation of your business that they comprehend, 2. Comfirm their support, 3. Ask them to repeat it to everyone they know. When you get inquiries, be sure to ask who referred them, then thank your supporter. WOM works, ask Dell & Pepsi!

65. Yard Work Tried And True!

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: Doing yard for people, raking leaves in the fall, shoveling in the winter, clean up in the spring and maintenance in the summer is a tried and true first business for many – they have to learn about maintaining clients, negotiating price, and showing up and doing a good job to deliver on their promises. How far they go with it is up to them – it may be that they head out with a shovel when it snows and knock on doors or that they have a base of regular clientele – it’s up to them.

66. Goodbye Stuff, Hello Cash Flow

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: Kids often want to get rid of some of their “stuff” and may come up with the idea to sell it in a yard sale. Encourage them to create a plan for the event (date, time, location), separate out the items to be sold, price the items (with a little help), determine where the money will go (some for fun, some for college savings) and actually hold the sale. They learn how to organize and promote the sale, run the event and manage the profits! You can sell some of your stuff too!

68. Leverage Your Way To Wealth

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: Understanding the power of leverage is what made me a successful businessman. I started my first business when I was 3; raising chickens and selling eggs at church. I have a few businesses now but make most of my money off my real estate that I began to buy when I was 5 years old. I only spend about an hour a month on business. I hire others to do most of the work because I am only 8 years old and can’t do many things. I am diligently working towards my NHL carreer. Nothing is going to stop me.

69. Inspirational Qoutes

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: Inspire someone. This can be done by doing a postcard project. You can have motivational words and design it in a TShirt, or mug as well can be done as cards.

This will be a great way to start as it will be required low investment, can be done in school holidays and weekends.

This is an idea that will suit many kids.

70. Content Marketing

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: A child with good English skills can develop an online business through content creation or affiliate marketing. Many content sites such as squidoo, hubpages, associatedcontent, etc will share revenues generated by adds on articles. This generates a recurring income stream. starts very small but can be built up to a large income.

A similar concept is to start a website. Generate content daily and run affiliate ads around that content. With proper keyword choices this can be profitable.

71. Everyone Loves Cupcakes!

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: I did this as a teen… Bake cupcakes and sell them to your friends, family and teachers for $1 and watch the money roll in!

Decorate your cupcakes with colorful icing, decorative sprinkles and put a slogan on them! You can make your cupcakes appeal to anyone.

$5 for mix, icing and sprinkles = $19 profit!!!

Here’s to bakery success!

72. Kids Love Candy!

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: A candy company is the perfect business for kids. It sells a product kids understand and feeds an evergreen demand. It can be launched in 4 steps. 1) Kids survey their peers to identify the most popular candies. 2) Investors (”Parents”) go to a wholesaler and purchase a few boxes of the chosen candy. 3) Kids mark the candy up 25%-50% and sell it to their peers at school and in their local neighborhood. 4) The entrepreneur keeps half the profits, pays back their investors and repeats the process.

73. Share The Wealth

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: Kids often have more toys than they use. Create a consignment format where they bring in the toys they have no need of and they can buy or lease other toys. If they rent it, it has to be returned in good condition otherwise they have to pay for it. This enables kids to try out toys to determine if they want to buy it. They can buy toys at a fraction of retail, more kids have toys to play with, it teaches responsibility, and toys that don’t sell can be donated to charities. Everyone wins!

74. Home Is Where The Art Is

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: To all child entrepreneurs: Start collecting art work from siblings and classmates. (Include your own, of course.) Buy inexpensive frames for the paintings and find a home for them by asking art galleries to allow you a small space for your sales one hour a week. Your parents will be with you during your sales pitches but keep them in the background–there’s nothing cuter or more persuasive than a pint-sized artist making a sale.

75. Look At Your Market

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: First, take a look around your neighborhood and see what is not getting done. Do your neighbors have a yard full of fallen leaves? Do their dogs need walking? Is snow filling their driveway? Are their windows in need of cleaning? Like any company, you should evaluate your market and figure out what needs exist, then fill those needs. I’d personally pay a neighbor’s kid to do all of the above jobs, and appreciate the help.

76. Clothing Swap

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: Teenage girls are always swapping clothes with one another, so why not make it a business? Charge for the service and have other teenage girls bring their unwanted clothes to swap. Parents love it because it’s an inexpensive way to get rid of clothes your daughter won’t wear in exchange for items they will wear.

77. Cleanliness Is Wealth

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: No child likes to clean their room. My kids offer their services to their friends (and friends’ parents) to assist in cleaning up. It makes it a social event, gets the job done with a lot less fussing and usually ends up in a reward (like a trip for ice cream) in addition to the monetary compensation.

78. Internet = College Optional

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: Many parents think that college is the only way for their children to be successful. This couldn’t be further from the truth.

Teaching children and teens to start their own online businesses by learning affiliate marketing (selling other people’s products) or starting their own business online, is the quickest and surest road to financial success for kids.

Just think…with money coming in to live and invest, they can go to college because they WANT to instead of thinking they have to.

79. Ride The Emotion Wave

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: Be enthusiastic about what you do. When you show people you truly love what you do, they will join you on the Emotion Wave as you ride it to the beach. Of course this means you must be authentic by demonstrating positive core values and behaviors because if you are 12 to 20 & even older, people (think your potential customers) can spot a phony.

80. Selling Old Items Online

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: I think the easiest way to start a business is to sell some old household items on Ebay and Craigslist. You can give them some old books, CDs etc and tell them they can keep the profit if they can sell these products successfully.
