I agree on both points, unfortunately, from learning the hard way! I tried AdWords and did not see the results I wanted. With a small budget and “tight” or specific adwords, I did not get the visits I expected. With another try using generic terms, I spent a fortune. It was easy to use and easy to start/stop, so there’s that. I started doing three different blogs and posting on several forums (like TPE and have found traffic much improved as well as meeting new online friends and making a couple of very valuable contacts. Just waiting now until I can afford the video equipment you mentioned in another blog Mike, so I can join the ranks of the vloggers!
Thanks for another bit of wisdom and humor!

So true! I’ve read this so many times, I’ve been fortunate enough to believe “them” when they all said “avoid Google AdWords!” That and I’m more or less working with a $0 budget, give or take. That said, blogs are great for it! The one point I love best is that, especially if you’re blogging about what you’re selling, it’s automatic SEO.
Now, granted, at the moment the blogging I’ve done is fairly limited (I’m sort of “re-starting” almost from scratch), but it’s something I’m definitely planning on going forward with. Thanks very much!
Excellent video Mike. I can relate to what you say. I’ve had an additional 7,000 visitors to my site since Monday by NOT using Google pay per click. It’s scary and exciting going it alone. Drive and passion and experience and value are key. You Rock.

You’re right yet again. Sadly some “gurus” are still selling that PPC junk to newbies. Now Social Media is just beginning to live up to it’s original hype and I firmly believe that fortunes will be made by many. Keep up your great job of giving us the lowdown on what really works!

I am a newbie. However, by default I did not use Google Adwords because the Universe in its infinite wisdom did not allow that money to be manifested. However, I am blogging and expecting and receiving massive results.
Thanks Mike and other contributors.
