What Would You Do With A Million Dollars?

June 23rd, 2009

The TPE community just amazes me. When I asked everyone to share what they would do with a million bucks, I thought it would be just a spending spree. Instead it revolved around embracing life (yes sometimes that is a nice Mustang or jetting around), doing for others and giving back. Interestingly, there were no handouts or pity giving... every TPE has the intention of building something that is long lasting. Building something that brings smiles, hope, progress, growth and other great things to their community. I hope this list inspires you as much as it did me. I am proud to be a TPE. Damn proud! What would you do with a million dollars?  Read more »

The First Step To Making A Million Dollars

June 15th, 2009

There are a few things that are repeating over and over in my head. One is this horrible Milli Vanilli song that played on the radio a couple days back. “Blame it on the rain that was falling, falling.” For God’s sake, I’m humming (oops, I mean, lip syncing) the tune right now as I type this blog post. The other thing that continues to play in my head is the question I get asked routinely. “Mike, how do I make a million dollars?” Same question -- morning and night -- day in and day out. “Mike, how do I make a million dollars?” The answer is probably not what you want to hear. It is definitely something you will never see said on an infomercial or “get rich quick” website. But here’s the truth: To make a million dollars you are going to need to work your ass off, plus some. You are going to have to work harder and smarter than you ever have. You are going to have to be relentless, even when (better put – especially when) you are at the point of mental, physical and/or emotional exhaustion.  Read more »

Confessions Of A Broadcasting Master: Marketing Tips

June 12th, 2009

You have got a great show and now you got to get the word out right? Marketing your show will take a lot of work, but the good thing is that if you have a good show, word of mouth will do the rest once you have done the work. The most important thing for you to work on is your content and show format. I have said in previous blogs to not try and be like anyone else. If you do "you", you will be fine. Trying to appeal to the masses will never get you a loyal niche following.  Read more »

How To Work On Your Business, Not In It

June 8th, 2009

Most entrepreneurs are freelancers. We work four ourselves, but we actually do all of the work. We get so used to the DIY we end up believing that no one else could ever do what we do, at least not very well. First of all, that’s a fairy tale. As awesome as you are, you are not the ONLY person on the planet who can take out the trash. More importantly, you’re killing your chances for success. Doing all the work simply isn’t scalable.  Read more »
